Back again to the Home away from Home. This is the place I imagine looks like we sound. Or try to. They have all the vibes we love and try to emulate. If you come to this show, you have a few months. Why not go on over to AA Callister and get yerself some sort of cowboy duds and come dressed like the damned Utahn you are. Enough of the hipster shit. Come country. It’ll do your soul well.
When we pressed our record, we thought of only one place we could do a record release. At the world’s best record store that’s where. So this is official. On this date, the album that’s been out and available for about 8 months, will officially be out. Records are limited and super cool for cool people.
We have been trying to get into Bar Named Sue ever for 51 years 6 months 3 days and 14 hours. They finally let us in and we are gonna bring it. This love is no longer unrequited. It will be all we dreamed of for all that time. We will try not to Grand Finale prematurely.
We love to play the Garage. The place just fits us. Like a banana fits the hand the way god made it. Or how evolution made the Angraecum Sesquipedalian moth’s nectary fits the A. sesquipedale flower. What ever similie suits your fancy. We tried to write a song about both things but neither were very poetic. Nonetheless, our feelings for the Garage are pure. We will find the proper analogy and put it to some of the several chords we know sometime soon.
We got asked to do this show in like January of 2011. It’s been on our calendar a long time. When the S. Lights agree to do a show, they follow through!. Two of us have pancreatitis, one of us has cholera, the other two have trench foot. That’s what happens when you are on the Oregon Trail as long as we have been. But we will be there dagnabbit. So, you best be there too.
The Swinging Lights will be performing from 8-11 at the Garage on Beck. The Swinging Lights are a 5 piece Americana/alt-country/rock band drawing inspiration from Wilco, Dr. Drog, Merle Haggard, Tom Waits etc. The Garage on Beck is a great venue with fantastic food and beverages. $5 cover 21+
